The Quit India Movement of 1942 was the most important phase of India’s independence, after which the initiative to end the British rule in India started. This movement was led by Mahatma Gandhi. The movement started in Mumbai. Where Mahatma Gandhi gave a fiery speech and gave the slogan of ‘Do or Die’ while calling upon all the Indians.
At that time, Congress had started a massive agitation for the British to leave India and go back. The British made many efforts to suppress this movement and a few days after the start of the movement many important leaders were imprisoned and put in jail, but this movement continued to grow. In the end, the culmination of this movement was that the British were forced to leave India and India became independent after 5 years in 1947.
